The keto community generally agrees that alcohol is acceptable in small amounts. The details to this are boring, but as long as it is hard liquor you’re good to go. My go-to drink is vodka-water so there are zero carbs, but sometimes I want some flavor. Jimmy has been really into making Old Fashions this year, but unfortunately we tried to use fake sugar and it just didn’t cut it.
So one day I decided to use some expiring products to create my own version of a keto acceptable drink.
It was really good. I like gin, but Jimmy doesn’t. So I tried it again with bourbon.
We had a nearly rotten cucumber, a lot of left over limes from Jimmy’s birthday party and some strawberries on their last leg. Muddle-muddle-muddle, Shake-shake-shake, grapefruit bitter and drink!
And because curiosity runs most of my decisions, I wanted to give vodka a try.
If you’re curious/didn’t read the above line, here is what is in the keto cocktail…
—— shake with ice and strain— —
fee brother’s grapefruit bitters
add fruit for beauty
I would say that after all was said and done, I was surprised that the vodka was my least favorite.
Overall, it was a wonderfully unexpected experiment.
Until next time,
